Chokoloskee - Saltwater Fishing Report
Well,at times you think,man,it's just too cold to get any snook to eat,but if you thank like, you will never know.
Capt. Charles Wright of Everglades Area Tours refered two Fly anglers to me yesterday, and when I awoke at 5 it was about 50 with a north west wind of about 10 to 12 knots.
Paul Cannon, who I fished about a year ago, as well as his long time friend Jared, showed up at the basin at 7am.
We took about a 30 minute ride south in the backcountry.
Threw out the day, Both Paul and Jared kept at it and by 4 in the afternoon they had landed somewhere near 20 nice snook.
Most of the snook were in the 5 to 7 pound range,missed 2 or 3 snook that could have pushed upwards to the double diget,but all the Big Girls are still their waiting to be caught,they were slamming the flys but just missing them.
All the snook were very agressive,and with no hesitation ,they were pounding the flys.
In 1 of my areas we fished out the little snook 1 after the other.Just as soon as the fly hit the water,fish on.
It was good to see those little 2 pounders for a change,it's been awile,and I grew concerned about the lack of small snook.
All in all,It was a great day of fishing in the cold,with 2 really great guys.
So,take that chance,meaning no matter if it's cold, hot, raining,etc.Get out their and You! can make it happen as we did.
