What to bring & what to expect...

The Everglades “Chokoloskee”, though primitive, is more readily accessible than most wilderness areas. Chokoloskee is off the beaten path and we would love for it to stay that way. If you want to take just a short excursion, with your fishing guide, Capt. Bert Barkus in Everglades National Park by boat, or make it a full day / half day of fishing and or sightseeing...Chokoloskee Island Charters is right for the job.

In the Everglades we never know what the weather will bring so always be prepared for rain, cold, and mostly heat. We can provide all tackle if necessary but, it’s always better to bring you own if at all possible. For all you FLY FISHERMAN, it’s always a good idea to practice for a few days before getting here. It will make you experience much more enjoyable. I personally use from a 6wt. threw an 8wt. even on the 150 pound Tarpon! The Everglades back country can be very demanding and precision casting needs to be made. We will be fishing out of a 2008 Maverick Mirage HPX with a 115 Yamaha. This technical Poling Skiff will get into about 5 to 6 inches of water, and is much quieter then the older Mirage 2 I was fishing out of for the last 15 years. The Everglades is a site to behold, and at times, can be World Class Fishing for Snook, Tarpon & Redfish.

So come on aboard, and enjoy Chokoloskee in Everglades National Park. We cater to fly fisherman, plug casters as well as spin casters.

Please read the following important information below...

What to bring: polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, sun hat, rain gear, plenty of water, food.

A cooler with ice will be provided. We have minimal storage in the boat so please bring only what is necessary. These are NOT party trips. Drugs are strictly prohibited and drinking is not encouraged.

We prefer catch & release but keeping a couple of fish is fine as long as the species is in season & of legal size. We fish both artificial and live bait.
